I Tried Moira Beauty So You Don’t Have to Guess What’s Worth Buying

Thank you to my friend for suggesting looking into the brand Moira! It’s now been on my list for a while because the prices are great and the product range is huge. But I wanted to know if the products were actually good. I tested bronzers, blushes, eyeshadows, and lip products to see what’s worth picking up and what’s not. I also have really liked buying Moira products from HB Beauty Bar because they seem to always be having a good sale on already affordable products, and I can grab things from other brands at the same time (not sponsored, I just really like shopping there for certain brands). In this post, all links are affiliate links (thank you for your support!), but all opinions are my own. Swatches are under a ring light to show true to color (photo #1) and then standard lighting to show the formula a little better (#2) based on your feedback for all the products.

Moira Stay Golden Cream Bronzer & Contour in 250N – This doesn’t turn orange at all, which already puts it ahead of a lot of cream bronzers for me. I definitely would not use it as contour, but as a bronzer, it’s really great. It reminds me of the “contour” shades from other brands that I end up using as bronzer because they’re neutral enough to work on olive skin. The formula is smooth, blurring, and easy to blend, but it sets super quickly, so I’d work in small sections. Once it sets, it really stays put and stays all down. Because of that, it can get a little patchy if you don’t move fast enough when you’re blending. I’m especially excited to use this in the summer when my skin eats and then sweats off cream products because it’ll stick around all day.

Moira Signature Bronzer in 001 Sunkissed Honey – This is very much a sunkissed bronzer as the name suggests, and on me, that means it turns very orange. I’ve actually ended up using it a bunch even though the color isn’t great because I just really like the way it applies. The formula is honestly great. It’s super smooth, easy to blend, and easy to build up. Compared to the cream bronzer, though, you can really see how much warmer this is. The glitter overspray also isn’t my favorite but not a big deal. Of all the affordable powder bronzers, this one is my favorite, but I think I’m going to be trying for warmer contour powders from now on.

Moira Loveheat Cream Blush in 014 I Desire You – This has a very similar formula to the cream bronzer. It’s easy to pick up, easy to blend, and not too pigmented, but not too sheer. The shade is exactly the kind of bright spring pink I like. It’s cool-toned, a little purple-lilac, and it brightens my whole face without turning warm or peachy. Like the bronzer, it dries down quickly and sets. If you want a dewy cream blush, this is not that, but if you want something that looks nice on the skin and lasts, it’s a really good option. It’s basically the Tower 28 cream blushes if they set down to a matte satin finish instead of staying dewy.

Moira Love Blur Blush in 003 Amore, 008 Sweet Whisper, 012 So Divine, and 006 Blush Kiss – I really like this formula. It’s another cream to powder, soft-focus blurring blush that if you’ve been reading, you know I’m obsessed with (and I don’t use that word lightly). Like all the best cream to powder blurring blushes, these feel super smooth, blend easily, blur the skin, and don’t look heavy or textured. They’re listed as all matte shades, but I swear most of these are slightly shimmery, which I actually really love. There’s no visible glitter but it just makes my skin look really nice.

That all said, the colors are more hit or miss than the formula. 003 Amore is a pale peachy pink with a little shimmer. Based on the swatches and online images, I thought this was going to be a cool toned baby pink, but it’s definitely peachy. 008 Sweet Whisper was an even bigger disappointment because I thought it would be a mauvey red-brown terracotta, but on me it’s just orange. 012 So Divine is a perfect cool purple that turns a little pink on me and looks super at home on my skin. This is also the only one of these four that’s truly matte. 006 Blush Kiss is one I’ve used way more than I expected. It’s a bright warm pink that actually works really well and wakes up my face. I’ve loved So Divine in the cooler months and have really started using Blush Kiss more as it gets warmer.

The product images of these shades for reference

Moira Chroma Light Shadow in 002 Tempting, 005 Sugar Crush, and 013 Renegade – These are the standout product from Moira for me. If I had to pick one “run, don’t walk” product from everything I tried, it would be these. They apply well with a finger or a brush, they’re smooth, they layer easily, and they last all day on me. They’re sparkly without being chunky glitter, and I don’t get fallout. 002 Tempting is my perfect spring pinky shade that I can wear alone or as a topper to add more pink to an eye look, which I do often. 005 Sugar Crush is my everyday warm brown sparkly shade that reminds me of Urban Decay Space Cowboy and Coulourpop Ritz (yes, it’s a little orange learning, and I have a post coming up on why orange and warmth on purpose is okay even as an olive). 013 Renegade is a fun purple-pink-burgundy shifty shade that reminds me of some of the Half Magic singles I love. I’m really so happy with these, and I use them more than my much more expensive eyeshadows. Let me know if you’re interested in other shades because I will absolutely grab more to test.

Moira Supernova Glitz Shadow in 003 Starbloom – I’m a little torn on this one. From farther away, this looked surprisingly similar to Clionadh Forge. Up close, though, it looked way patchier, drier, and less smooth. It’s also way less pigmented and took a lot more building up. In the swatches, it’s 3 swatches of the Moira and one of the Clionadh. I asked my husband to choose between them on the eyes, and he immediately said that the Clionadh shadow looked way better without knowing which was which. It’s still not awful, but since it’s not actually that much less expensive than Clionadh shadows (some of their multichromes are almost $18 but some are under $10), I’d rather invest there. If you’re already placing a Moira order and want to try an accessible multichrome, these are really fun. But I also have it on good authority that Wet n Wild’s new Chameleon Chrome Collection is pretty fantastic, and the powder singles are $6.99.

Moira Angel Satin Lipstick in 003 Soft Wing – I was so excited about this shade because I love the idea of an affordable cool-toned mauve lipstick. If I sheer it out, the color is actually really pretty but the formula is just not one I can work with. It settles into lip lines, makes my lips look drier than they are, and feels super uncomfortably waxy. After about a minute of having this on, my lips felt awful. Of all the products I tried, this is the only one that I’d not recommend even trying with an order.

Moira Velvet Air Lip Tint in 005 Mauve Moment – This is the Moira lip formula I’d actually recommend. After trying the Angel Satin Lipstick, this felt immediately better. It’s smoothing, super comfortable, and made my lips look so much better even though it’s matte. It has that soft blurred tint finish, but it doesn’t grab every line or make my lips feel awful. I also really like the shade. It’s a wearable bricky terracotta on me that works pretty well, though I do wish it was an actual mauve color.

I Tried 8 “Olive-Friendly” Cream, Cushion, and Liquid Blushes From YesStyle Under $20

A lot of affordable makeup is pretty fantastic, and I don’t spend enough time talking about it. So for May, I’m dedicating the entire month to posts about products under $20. I originally planned to do one big YesStyle blush roundup, but there were way too many good affordable blushes to fit into one post. So after starting with the powder blushes, I’m back with the cream, cushion, and liquid blushes as promised. I did order a few more blushes based on your recommendations so far, so there will be another YesStyle under $20 blush follow-up later. In this post, all links are affiliate links (thank you for your support!), but all opinions are my own.

Swatches are in the same order from left to right as the order of blushes are reviewed in the post. Swatches are under a ring light to show true to color (photo #1) and then standard lighting to show the formula a little better (#2) based on your feedback – thank you!

Joocyee Glazed Multi-Purpose Stick in G402 Wheat Nude – This is one of my favorite blushes from this whole YesStyle haul. G402 is a rosy brown that actually stays rosy-brown on me instead of turning orange, and it’s one of those colors that immediately looks at home on my skin. The formula is creamy, easy to blend, and makes my skin look hydrated without looking greasy. I also like it as a lip product, so it’s very easy for a soft monochromatic look. My only complaint is the packaging, which is chunkier than I want it to be, especially because this is exactly the kind of product I’d otherwise travel with all the time. *Out of stock at YesStyle, but I did find it in stock at Stylevana.

Gege Bear Air Cushion Blusher in 303 – This might be the most perfect blush color I’ve ever found. It’s my ideal everyday beige-mauve, and it looks so good every time I put it on. I do have to build it up a little, but I don’t mind that because the cushion format makes it so easy and hard to overdo. I use this all the time, especially paired with the NAMING powder blush from my last post. I’ve used the included puff, brushes, and fingers to apply it and never have any issues. The packaging is cute, but it does feel a little like a kid’s toy. If luxury packaging matters to you, this may annoy you, but at this price (under $5), I don’t care, and I would absolutely repurchase it.

TFIT Fluffy Velvet Cushion Blush in B01 Charming Berry – This one did not work for me at all. I don’t know if mine arrived dried out or if the formula is just this low pigment, but I cannot get it to show up on my face at all. I can get a little pigment if I really press into it for a finger swatch, but on my cheeks, it basically disappears. It also doesn’t pick up well with the puff, a brush, or my fingers, so it feels harder than it needs to be. If you are very fair and want an extremely pale cushion blush, maybe this is for you, but there’s so many amazing blushes out there. If you have this and love it, please comment and let me know if mine is just a bad batch! *This is actually over $20 when it’s not on sale, but I had to include it because it was my only product that didn’t end up working for me.

TFIT cushion vs Gege Bear – you can see the Gege is an actual cushion product

Bbi@ Ready to Wear Downy Cheek in Downy Taro – I love this formula so much that I already have another shade in my cart. Downy Taro is a brighter cool-toned pink that actually stays cool on me, and it brightens up my face so well. The formula is so easy to work with and makes my skin look dewy and hydrated. It’s also tiny and compact, so it’s one of the easiest blushes here to travel with. I especially like tapping it over a look that has gotten a little too powdery because it brings the skin texture back in a really pretty way.

A’pieu Juicy-Pang Jelly Blusher in PK01 and BE02 – PK01 is definitely the shade I should’ve gone with. It’s a neutral rose with a little warmth, but it doesn’t go orange on me. It has a slightly red-leaning quality in a good way, and it feels like a perfect, easy summer blush color on me. BE02 is a tangerine-orange shade, and it absolutely reads orange on my skin. It was recommended as an orange that an olive can actually wear, and I don’t totally regret having it because it does work for a fun, intentionally orange look since it isn’t super Cheeto bright once it’s blended out. This is one of the only blushes I own that I can use for that kind of look. The formula is easy to blend, blurring, and definitely more of a cream-powder hybrid than a dewy cream blush, which is one of my favorite blush formulas. The packaging is small and travel-friendly too.

A’pieu Juicy-Pang Jelly Blusher in BE02 vs Joocyee Glazed Multi-Purpose Stick in G402 Wheat Nude so you can see they are actually very different undertones/shades

Before we get into the liquid blushes, I’m not usually a liquid blush person. Before trying these, the only liquid blush I consistently used was the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dewy Flushes. Otherwise, I almost always reach for a cream, cushion, or cream-powder blush. These really surprised me. They’re easy to blend, easy to layer, and I’ve been using them a lot either as a first blush layer or on their own when I want something quick and fresh. Swatches are in the same order from left to right as the order of blushes are reviewed in the post. Swatches are under a ring light to show true to color (photo #1) and then standard lighting to show the formula a little better (#2) based on your feedback – thank you!

Peripera Syrupy Tok Cheek in 03 Friendship Mauve – This is the liquid blush I use the most. Friendship Mauve is mauve in theory, but on my face, it turns into a soft, springy pink that brightens up my face. The formula blends out beautifully and stays dewy without being sticky. I also love that I can build it up without it getting patchy, so if I want more color, I can just tap on another layer, and it still looks good. My only complaint is the packaging. It has one of those little buttons at the bottom that you have to press, which can be frustrating if you have any kind of mobility issues.

House of Hur Moist Ampoule Blusher in Rose Brown and Berry Purple – I have two shades of this because I liked the first one enough to buy another. Rose Brown is a rosy brown that doesn’t go bright orange on me, though it’s definitely a little warm. Berry Purple is a brown-berry color that looks very at home on my skin. These are more of a watercolor wash than the Peripera, so I don’t always wear them alone, but they’re really pretty when I want something soft and skin-like. The formula blends out well and makes my skin look nice without looking like I’m wearing blush. This is much more of a watercolor, could never put on too much, kind of formula.

nuse Mousse Care Cheek in 05 Crema Mauve – This is such a pretty cool-toned pink. Compared to the Peripera, it’s lighter and brighter, but it still works really well on my olive skin and doesn’t go orange. The formula is more opaque than the House of Hur, so instead of giving that watercolor wash, it looks more like I put on a cream blush. But then it dries down and really stays. Once it sets, it’s pretty matte and blurred, but it still looks really pretty. I like this one so much that I actually already bought two more nuse blushes to test, one in this formula and one in a different nuse liquid formula that one of you swatched that I just had to try.

I Tried 6 “Olive-Friendly” Powder Blushes From YesStyle Under $20

A lot of affordable makeup is pretty fantastic, and I don’t spend enough time talking about it. So for May, I’m dedicating the entire month to posts about products under $20. I specifically picked 13 YesStyle blushes that looked like they had a real chance of being olive-friendly and were all under $20 to test. I originally planned to put all of them into one big affordable YesStyle blush roundup, but once I started writing, it became very clear that 13 blush reviews in one post was too much. So I’m going to do the powder blushes today, and then this weekend or early next week, I’ll post the liquid, cream, and cushion blushes. I promise there will still be all the other affordable May posts so we’ll just have an extra post. In this post, all links are affiliate links (thank you for your support!), but all opinions are my own.

Swatches are in the same order from left to right as the order of blushes are reviewed in the post. I tried two different lighting conditions, and the second photo is truer to the actual colors of the blushes, but I think you can see the formula better in the first. Feedback always welcome!

dasique Blending Mood Cheek in 05 Violet Knit – These are the powder blushes I reach for the most out of these 6. The formula is so smooth and blurring and has what I’d call a skin-finish matte texture. It’s very soft and blurred, but not flat or dry. There’s a pale lilac I use more as a blush topper, a warmer pink that gives a pretty almost peachy pop (although if you’re less green, it’ll probably be just pink), a cooler purple that actually stays purple on me instead of turning pink, and a bright cool pink that is my my perfect everyday brightening blush. My camera kept pulling the warmer pink so much more peach/orange than it looks in real life, but the difference between the warmer pink and cooler purple is much clearer in person. I can use one shade, mix them, or shift the tone depending on the rest of my makeup, and it’s the rare blush quad where I actually use every shade.

NAMING Fluffy Powder Blush in Taro – I’ve talked about this one before in my beige makeup for olive skin post, and it still holds up as one of my favorite beige blushes of all time. The formula is also excellent. It’s smooth, easy to blend, and very hard to mess up. Compared to the dasique quad, this has a little more of a satin finish, but you probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference unless you were really looking for it. This is the kind of shade I can wear when I don’t want my blush to compete with the rest of my makeup, but I still want my face to look finished. If I had to pick one single powder blush from this group of 6 to keep, it would probably be this one because the color is so perfect.

Unleashia Dough Dough Waffle Blush in No. 3 Jammy Grape – This is not the blush I’d pick if you want something matte, because it is definitely shimmery. There are no obvious flecks or chunky sparkle on my face, but it’s definitely more of a blushlighter. It’s smooth, glowy, and sheeny in a way that makes my skin look really nice but it’s not matte or blurred. Jammy Grape is a brighter pinky-purple shade, and it gives me more of that spring/summer pop of color. It’s also the most pigmented of this group of blushes here, so I don’t have to build it as much to get it to show up. Even with the extra pigment and sheen, I still find it easy to use because the formula is so smooth and blends out without getting patchy. This is the one I reach for when I want my blush to be brighter, glowier, and more noticeable.

rom&nd Better Than Cheek in C02 Blueberry Chip and N02 Vine Nude – I have both C02 and N02, and you don’t need both unless you’re looking for pale blushes with slightly different undertones (I know at least one of you is, and if you’re reading this, then yes, you specifically do need both). They’re also really hard to see in the swatches with my current skin depth, but I promise they’re very pretty in person. The formula is really nice but texturally, these are a little less smooth and blurring than the dasique and NAMING blushes. They still have that soft, airy, pale powder blush look, but if your main goal is “as blurred and smoothing as possible,” these would not be my first choice. If you are very fair  and your biggest issue is blushes looking too pigmented too fast, these are perfect. The tones are so pretty and soft and really easy to build up slowly. I also really like them for blending out another blush or giving that Dior Rosy Glow style blush topper effect. When I first got these, I used them both all the time, especially in winter as a very pale blush.

Judydoll HOT Pretty Blush Powder in 68 – This is a really pretty pale cool pink, and it also gives me that Dior Rosy Glow type of effect that’s bright and fresh. The Judydoll formula and the rom&nd formula are almost exactly the same, and I would happily reach for any of them for this type of color. As we’ve moved into spring and warmer weather, I’ve definitely been reaching for this one more than the rom&nd. It works as a topper, but I can also wear it by itself when I want a fun lilac-y pink cheek that still looks like it belongs on my face. Warmer pinks work well on me because I’m a warm olive and I personally like that almost-peachy (not cheeto) look in the warmer months, but if you want to stay in that cool pink/lilac/purple blush family, this is the one I’d pick. *I can’t find this shade on YesStyle right now but it is on Stylevana for about $5.

The Products Under $10 at Ulta I Actually Use, Even If I Was Just Trying to Hit Free Shipping

A lot of affordable makeup is pretty fantastic, and I don’t spend enough time talking about it. So for May, I’m dedicating the entire month to posts about products under $20. I wanted to start with the under $10 products at Ulta that you might throw in your cart just to hit free shipping, but that I would happily buy anyway because they’re really that good. I also did a quick affordable bronzer check at the end because I tried three from Ulta (and don’t use them very often). In this post, all links are affiliate links (thank you for your support!), but all opinions are my own.

Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner in Gone Greige ($8.49) – This color is really special. On me, it reads like a cool brown with a purple-gray undertone, which is exactly the kind of lip liner color I am always looking for and almost never find. It gives definition without looking out of place and goes so well with the lip products I tend to reach for. The formula has a little time to blend, and then it really stays put. I also love using it with lip products that run a little too warm because it helps cool everything down.

NYX Butter Gloss in Blueberry Tart and Marshmallow ($6) – The NYX Butter Gloss is one of my favorite gloss formulas and has been for years, but these two shades I’m especially excited about. They’ve been so useful for cooling down lip products that pull orange or yellow. If something is really orange, I use Blueberry Tart, and I always get the most perfect shade no matter what I’ve mixed it with. If it just needs a little help or is weirdly yellow, I use Marshmallow. Marshmallow is also so pretty with my olive skin on its own. It’s a really special cool milky muted lilac I don’t see very often. The formula isn’t sticky, feels nice on the lips, and wears better than a lot of glosses that are way more expensive. I think they actually moisturize and nourish my lips too, unlike a lot of lip glosses/oils.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Ritz ($7) – This is one of my all time favorite one and done eyeshadows. The sparkle, wear time, and overall effect are right in line with my more expensive shadows; I wouldn’t be able to tell that this was as inexpensive as it is. It reminds me a lot of Urban Decay Space Cowboy, just with a sheerer base color. Even with that, it has such a beautiful wet-look sparkle that I can get away with wearing this alone or layered over matte shadows as a topper. The formula is super easy to use with a finger or a brush, and I find I get less fallout than with other similar glittery shadows. I keep thinking of buying other shades since I love the formula so much, but I know I’ll reach for Ritz every time.

NYX Buttermelt Pressed Powder Blush in Butta With Time and For The Butta ($11) – I really like this formula. These are super pigmented, but they blend easily and don’t feel as difficult to work with as some other super pigmented powder blushes. That said, if you want a super subtle flush of color, I don’t think you’ll appreciate these because they really are pigmented. Butta With Time is a bright, warm (but not too warm) pink, and For The Butta is more of a rosy mauve. Now that I’ve gone back and tested them side by side again, I actually think I like Butter With Time more right now because it wakes up my face and fits with the warmer weather. For The Butter feels softer and moodier, and I can already tell it will be perfect for the fall and winter. *I know these are actually $11, but I can almost always find them on sale, so I decided to include them anyway.

Essence Soft Touch Bouncy Blush in Roses in Berry ($5.99) – This has that blurred, soft matte-satin, bouncy cushion blush formula that is my absolute favorite blush formula. If I didn’t know this was affordable, I would totally think it cost way more than it did. I do think some of my more expensive blushes have more nuanced shades, but this formula is definitely just as good. On me, this berry shade is almost a little too red, but if I use a light hand, it gives a really pretty fresh pop of color that doesn’t go orange. This is especially pretty for spring and summer, and I think I would also have loved Electric Peony. Like with the NYX blushes, these are pretty pigmented and a little goes a long way.

Trying affordable bronzers: Milani Baked Bronzer in Amalfi Glow ($12.99), Essence Soft Touch Butter Bronzer in 10 Whipped Buttercup ($5.99), and NYX Buttermelt Bronzer in Deserve Butta ($11)  – I actually like something about all three of these. Milani Baked Bronzer in Amalfi Glow and Essence Soft Touch Butter Bronzer in 10 Whipped Buttercup are both super easy to blend and build up, with Milani being glowier and more believable as a bronzer on me and Essence looking softer and more matte. The NYX Buttermelt Bronzer in Deserve Butta gives the prettiest sunkissed effect but is also the most pigmented and the closest to going too orange. All three still run warmer or just more yellow than my ideal bronzer tone, so this is one of those categories where the formulas are improving faster than the shades for my undertones. I might try NYX Buttermelt Bronzer in All Butta’d Up, though, because I like the formula and that shade looks rosier. Based on the swatches, the Milani and Essence shades I got are the coolest options in their ranges. I also included the Gucci Bronzing Powder in 01 for reference in the swatches.

5 Products I’m Decluttering And What I’m Keeping Instead

I was originally going to do something else this week, but I realized I had so many products sitting in my declutter drawer that I just don’t really want in my collection anymore. Most of these products are perfectly fine (and you might love them) but they got replaced by something that works much better for my skin and preferences. I never end up reaching for them, and they would be much better off with a friend. In this post, all links are affiliate links (thank you for your support!), but all opinions are my own.

Instead of the Dior Forever Skin Perfect Stick in 1.5N, I’m keeping the Rare Beauty Soft Matte Foundation in 10 – The Dior stick foundation formula is totally fine, but the shade is just a bit too warm and orange on me. I can get away with a complexion product that’s a little too warm if the formula is nice enough, but this one doesn’t play super well with any of my blue color correctors, which is normally what I do if something is too orange. The Rare Beauty Soft Matte Foundation is what I’ve been reaching for instead. Since it’s a liquid foundation, it’s not technically a one-to-one replacement for a stick foundation, but it fills the same role for me when I want that more matte satin, perfected skin kind of base. I have only had it for a little while (I got it in my Sephora sale order) and have only worn it a couple times, so this isn’t a long term review. The shade match is so much better, and it blends in without needing any color corrector. I also just like the formula better. This is one of my favorite matte foundation finishes I’ve tried in a long time because while it is matte and blurring, it’s not too drying. It really looks nice all day. I even tried it without primer or anything hydrating underneath  just to see what it would do, and even on my very dry skin, it only broke up a tiny bit. I also really like the packaging, which is a pump that locks. This makes it really easy to travel with or throw in a bag. I could not get the swatches to show up true to color no matter what lighting (indoor, outdoor, any room) I tried but I can confirm that my husband literally couldn’t even tell the Rare beauty swatch was on my arm.

Instead of the Bubble Secret Agent Color Correcting Balm Redness Fix, I’m keeping The Saem Cover Perfection Pen Concealer in Green Beige – The Bubble corrector is one I might not recommend for anyone, but if you love it, let me know in the comments. It has this weird watery texture, and when I blend it out it turns into this beigey orange that’s also green, it doesn’t do a good job of cancelling redness. I end up with a weird orangey red blotchy situation that is not what I’m looking for at all. The Saem one is so much better. It’s a perfect beigey green that actually neutralizes redness while still blending into my skin instead of sitting on top looking obvious. I also like the texture so much more. It just makes a lot more sense on my skin, and I would never use the Bubble over the Saem.

Instead of the ColourPop So Juicy Plumping Glossy Lip Oil, I’m keeping the NYX Jelly Job Lip Gloss in Jelly Frost – I know the ColourPop gloss/oil  is supposed to be plumping, but for me, it’s just really uncomfortable without doing any plumping. If a lip product is going to sting, it needs to also look good enough for me to work through the pain. This one doesn’t make my lips look better or nourish them, and it hurts. It doesn’t last especially well (probably because it’s more on the oil side than gloss or balm), so overall it’s just not a product I enjoy using. The NYX Jelly Job gloss is such a better drugstore option for me. It feels nourishing, lasts well for a gloss, and I really like shade Jelly Frost specifically because it has a slight blue tone to it. It’s not a pH adjusting gloss that turns bright pink, and that tiny bit of coolness is really helpful since I can use this on top of lip products that lean too warm for me.

Instead of the Milani Cheek Kiss Blush Stick in Luminouso, I’m keeping the Lisa Eldridge Blush Balm in Cinnamon Bun – This one is an easy declutter for me. Obviously the shade is not right for me, but honestly the texture is just as much of a problem. It looks patchy and splotchy on my skin and never really in the way I want it to. The Lisa Eldridge Blush Balm in Cinnamon Bun is so much better on me. Caveat that I understand this is much more expensive but it’s so worth it to me. Cinnamon Bun is this perfect sunburned rusty reddish brown that looks so natural and so at home on me. It gives me that healthy, warm, I’ve been in the sun look without going Cheeto. I also love the formula. It goes on so quickly and easily and blends seamlessly with my skin. You can hopefully see how much smoother it is than the Milani. I actually love the formula so much that I now have four of the Lisa Eldridge blush balms, and I’ve been using them almost daily.

Instead of the One/Size Cheek Clapper 3D Blush Trio in Rich Betch, I’m keeping the Morphe Cheek Thrills Multi-Finish Face Trio in Honeymoon Suite –  Since I bought the Morphe blush trio, I haven’t reached for the One/Size one once. Both of these are trios with a cream blush, a matte powder blush, and a sparkly blush, and the packaging is basically the same. There is nothing really wrong with the One/Size one, but the Morphe one definitely kicked it out of my rotation. The Morphe formula works better for me, is easier to apply and blend, and feels less high stakes. The color story of the Honeymoon Suite trio is a set of cool toned mauve blushes, which looks very at home on my skin. I think the One/Size one might be better in the summer since I do tend to like a red/brown blush (like Cinamon Bun!), but it just always looks a little off on me. The Morphe trio also happens to be half the price, so you could get a warmer and a cooler version if you wanted the option and have spent the same amount of money.

Product Updates on Things You’ve Been Asking Me About

I’ve had a small but growing pile of products set aside for a post about products that people have been asking about (by people, I mean about 20 of you, AND THANK YOU FOR ASKING!). I finally have enough thoughts on 5 of the products to create a post. Most of these are products I specifically bought because y’all asked me to test them. Some of these are just updates on products I’ve already talked about that people asked for an update about. In this post, all links are affiliate links (thank you for your support!), but all opinions are my own

Vieve Modern Radiance Cream Bronzer in Light – This is probably the question I get most often: what bronzer do I use that does not turn orange on me? This is still the one I reached for since I first reviewed it last year. On my skin, it reads like a muted olive tan, so it’s warm enough to actually bronze but stays well out of the Cheeto zone. I really do think the slight green in it is part of why it works so well and blends in so smoothly on my skin. The formula is excellent too. It’s easy to pick up and blend and looks seamless on the skin. I have a lot of bronzers that are perfectly fine, but if I could only keep one, this would be it.

Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Liquid Blurring Balm Setting Spray and Milani Make It Last Dewy Setting Spray – I’ve been asked a few times whether I’m still using the winners from my setting spray battle now that some time has passed, and yes, absolutely. I’m actually still using both of them almost every day. The Danessa Myricks has become more of a powder step for me than a normal setting spray. Sometimes I spray it onto a brush or puff and press it into the skin and basically use it as powder. Since it’s still been wintry here and my skin has been really dry, I’ve been reaching for it most days instead of actual powder, and I’ve been really happy with how that’s been working. Then I use the Milani as my actual final setting spray, and the combination has been working so well for me that I’ve been neglecting my powders altogether, except for one green one I’ve been testing that I’ll share more about in a week or two. I’m very glad I did that whole setting spray test, because both of these really did end up earning permanent spots in my routine.

Tower 28 Concealer in BW – A few people asked me to review this because it is specifically supposed to work for olive undertones, and yup, it really is green. This is one of the only concealers I’ve found that actually looks like my skin tone instead of just sort of working well enough. I already liked this formula, so having a shade that actually matches me is awesome. It blends in beautifully and looks really natural on the skin, which is why you can’t really see anything in the swatch. It looks like they also have a medium olive shade, so I may end up grabbing that and mixing the two together because BW is about to be too light for me heading into the spring and summer. I really appreciate that BW is a true warm olive, and it matches me much better than any of the other shades I’ve tried so far. This is definitely my go-to winter concealer.

MAC Matte Powder Blush in Blunt (please be aware this is impossible to swatch well)

MAC Matte Powder Blush in Blunt – My friend Kackie mentioned this shade in one of her videos and was so excited for me to try it, and she was right. I finally bought it, and the color is so good. On me, it reads like a muted rosy tan-brown, and it has turned out to be one of the best everyday blush shades I own. That said, the formula is a classic matte powder blush, and I’m just not as used to working with that type of formula anymore. I would personally love this exact color in a bouncy, cushiony, hybrid blush texture. That said, I’ve especially been loving it as an eyeshadow, and it has become such an easy one-and-done matte shade.

I also went looking for contour products that actually work on my warm olive skin without adding blue based on your feedback. Totally fair to not want to mix in blue every time you use a contour product!

From right to left: ABH Contour in Halftone and Greyscale, Judydoll Liquid Contour in Warm Cocoa Brown, Westman Atelier Contour Stick in Biscuit and Coco

ABH Blur Contour Stick in Greyscale – I’m so glad they came out with this shade in their shade expansion. It isn’t that much much cooler than Halftone, but just enough to not pull orange on me like Halftone did. Greyscale reads like a true cool olive-gray contour. It actually creates shadow instead of warmth, which is exactly what I wanted. If I want a sharper, more obvious contour, this is one of the products I reach for.

Judydoll Liquid Contour in Warm Cocoa Brown – The name is a little misleading if you are expecting “warm” in the usual sense, because it’s actually just their contour for warm skin. On me, it reads very similar to Greyscale but even cooler and greener. It is perfect for actually sculpting instead of just looking like a neutral bronzer. I love that this is under $15 (it’s under $10 right now) and a really great liquid formula that’s easy to work with. It’s the most “looks like a classic contour” on me product I’ve found so far.

Westman Atelier Face Trace Contour Stick in Coco – This one is super different from the other two. It is definitely not orange, and it is much more workable on me than Biscuit, which I kept trying to force into being a contour even though it is clearly a warm bronzer on my skin. Seriously, look how orange it is next to Coco. Coco is a really interesting shade that I can’t quite describe but it’s a rusty red brown that’s almost purple grey. It somehow still works as a contour on my face in a way that looks very natural (I’m sure Kackie can and has explained the color theory behind this since she recommended this one!). It blends beautifully into bronzer and looks great in photos. When I want a softer, more natural contour, I use Coco. When I want a more obvious sculpted look, I use Grayscale or Judydoll. Honestly happy to have all 3 from in my and hopefully I can use the other contours as bronzers as it gets warmer!

The Rosy-Beige Makeup Look That Actually Works on My Olive Skin

I have been trying to figure out the perfect beige makeup look that works on my olive skin ever since Kackie (of Kackie Reviews Beauty) did a video on beige blushes. Most of those blushes go orange on me, and I’ve been obsessed with figuring this out. After doing a ton of testing, I think I have the right products, and I wore them all together yesterday. I got so many compliments from people in person and over work calls. I actually don’t think I have ever gotten that many compliments on a makeup look before. Caveat up front that I tried to get a more rosy-beige leaning look because I know so many of you are hoping to avoid orange, and I really do think rosy-beige looks so pretty. I’m super excited to share this set of products for this kind of look, especially for spring. In this post, all links are affiliate links (thank you for your support!), but all opinions are my own.

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in Believe – Like most of these products, this is very far away from beige in the packaging, but on me it turns into a perfect soft muted beige flush that looks like it just belongs on my face. The brand describes it as a true mauve, and it has that desaturated cool-toned mauvey pink tone that ends up looking just right instead of orange. This is a pretty pigmented formula, so you don’t need that much, and 0.25oz will last forever. The formula is great – it blends easily, lasts all day, and sets down to a really nice skin like finish that isn’t too dewy. If your blush disappears on you, this is a really good one.

Naming Fluffy Powder Blush in Taro – Naming came out with a beige spectrum of blushes that goes from warm light beige to deep cool beige, and I’m so glad I picked one up. As a warm high-contrast olive, I figured the coolest deepest shade would be the best test, and I was right. Taro turns into the perfect everyday rosy-beige blush on me. I’ve actually been using it as a comparison point for other blushes while trying to find the right ones for this look. The formula is soft, blurring, and easy to work with. It is a little sheerer, so I have mostly been using it to set cream and liquid blushes instead of wearing it on its own. I especially love it over Believe because the two shades work so well together. And at least while I’m writing this, it’s only $12.

YSL Couture Mini Clutch in 200 – I’ve written about this palette before, and it is still probably my favorite eyeshadow palette for my olive undertones. The shades stay rosy-beige without going orange on me, and they’re the right shades to use to make everything look cohesive with this type of blush look. The formula is also fantastic. The satin and matte shades are so smooth, easy to use, and very forgiving and blurring. The topper is beautiful, though it’s pretty sheer and I wouldn’t wear it on its own. It looks great over any of the other shades. I didn’t actually see this particular color story on Sephora, but it is currently 15% off at Nordstrom. If it turns out they’re discontinuing this one, I will definitely be picking up 400 next.

Queen Musia Skincare Supercharged Tinted Balm in 1993  – My lips are pretty pigmented and pretty pink, so keep in mind that these lip shades are mixing with my natural lip color. For me, that means I do not actually want a lip product that is straight mauve. A cool-toned brown mixed with my natural lip color gets me to that neutral beige effect better. 1993 is just a perfect sheer rosy cool-toned brown. The formula is really nourishing, and it’s one of my favorite lip balm formulas. It also does not turn cheeto orange on me, which is obviously a huge plus for a brown balm.

Westman Atelier HydroBalm Sheer Tinted Lipstick with Peptides and Hyaluronic Acid in Soda – This is the more pigmented version of that same idea. It is also a cool-toned brown, but with a lot more color payoff, so if you want something that is much more likely to actually show up brown on the lips, this is a really good choice. I will admit that Kackie just bought this for me for my birthday so I haven’t had it that long, but I’m SO HAPPY with how it looks. It’s definitely the vampier version of this lip look, but I love it so much. It’s also a little tingly so if that’ll bother you, I wouldn’t choose this one.

If you specifically want true mauve lip color recommendations, I have also been collecting those, so let me know in the comments!

The Best New to me Products I Tried From the Sephora Sale

I’m taking a small hiatus from the setting spray tournament now that we’ve finished round 1 (but round 2 and 3 coming soon!). Sephora is doing another 20% off sale starting today, so I wanted to share my favorite 5 things I picked up in the last one that were new to me and absolutely worth getting. I forced myself to only pick 5, but let me know if there was anything you wanted to hear about! In this post, all links are affiliate links (thank you for your support!), but all opinions are my own.

Makeup by Mario SurrealSkin® Natural Finish Foundation in 3W – One of the first things that immediately impressed me about this foundation is how well it matches my skin tone. I don’t need any green color corrector with it, which feels like a small miracle because I’ve relied on one with so many products. It goes on incredibly lightweight while still evening out my skin in a really seamless way. It never looks like I’ve put on too much makeup. It blends out super easily, takes almost no time to apply, and the finish is very “my skin but better.” I also love that it doesn’t require any extra steps like heavy moisturizers or special primers to look good like some other foundations do with my dry skin. It almost sets on its own right away and has a velvety texture that isn’t sticky at all. I can touch my face before setting without a ton of transfer. This has quickly become my go to when I want something with more coverage than a skin tint without going as heavy as some other foundations.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Under Eye Setting Powder in Soft Pink – I’ve been testing so many powders lately. I think I have about 20 to review, about half of which are pink powders. If you want a full deep dive sooner rather than later, let me know in the comments! In my quest to find the best brightening pink powder that works for dull and/or tired-looking skin, I’ve really been enjoying this one. I was never a big fan of the original Laura Mercier loose powder (though to be fair, the last time I tried it was five years ago), but this version is honestly so good. It’s smoothing, lightweight, and noticeably brightening under the eyes without looking dry or powdery. It mattifies just enough while still giving a skin-like finish, and even though it’s marketed as an under-eye powder, I can use it all over my face with no issues. Even with all the other pink powders I’m testing, this is the one I keep reaching for, even more than the original Givenchy powder I loved so much.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dewy Flush Serum in Dragonfruit – I’ve talked about this product a few times before, and I really love the other shades I own, but Dragon Fruit has become my new favorite. It looks like a hot, neon pink in the bottle, but on my skin it sheers out into the prettiest light pink flush. I’ve been using it as a blush base under other products to bring some life back into my face (my almost one year has decided sleep is not for him), but it also works beautifully on its own for that easy no makeup makeup, “I definitely hydrated today” kind of look. It blends out into this natural color that works surprisingly well with my undertones. One of the things I appreciate most about this blue is that my skin doesn’t immediately eat it, which is rare for serum blush formulas on me. It lasts well without getting overly dewy, and it just makes my skin look healthy rather than shiny. I get the smoothest application when I put a little on the back of my hand and load up a brush before stippling, but you can absolutely dot it straight onto your cheeks too.

Eadem Lip Balms in Fig Sauce, Pain au Chocolat, Croissant au Beurre, Boba Bounce, Bissap Glaze, Guava Fresca, and Butter Mochi

Eadem Le Chouchou Exfoliating + Softening Peptide Lip Balm in Fig Sauce – I’ve talked about these balms so many times because they’re genuinely some of my favorite lip products ever. What I wanted to share is that Fig Sauce is such a good color. It’s a super pretty milky rosy brown that ends up being the perfect everyday shade. I usually go for deeper and more brown colors because of my high-contrast olive complexion, but this one still works so well. It’s flattering, easy, and very much a “throw it on without a mirror” situation. The formula is incredible, the scent is amazing, and I haven’t met a shade I didn’t like. I’m so happy to have another one in my collection, and I highly recommend them if you’ve been curious. I still love the shimmery ones (Pain au Chocolat and Coissant au Beurre), Boba Bounce, Bissap Glaze, Guava Fresca, and Butter Mochi, but Fig Sauce has definitely become one of my favorite day-to-day colors.

JVN Complete Hydrating Air Dry Hair Styling Cream – I don’t talk about hair care very often because it’s such a personal category and not one I consider myself an expert in, but sometimes something impresses me so much that I have to share. The JVN Complete Air Dry Cream is absolutely one of those products. I’ve never had something that I can apply to towel-dried hair and have it dry into something voluminous, defined, and genuinely good looking with zero effort. My waves stay intact, my hair keeps its shape for days, and it never feels heavy, crunchy, or weighed down. Plus, it smells great. The brand says it provides “touchable hold that lets your natural texture shine,” and that’s actually true. Most air-dry or leave-in products just don’t work for me, but this one has been such a standout that I had to include it.

Best Blushes for Olive Skin: My Current Favorites for Fall 2025

Blush is one of those things that instantly makes me look more awake, even on days when I’m running on no sleep and too much coffee. I’ve been testing a bunch of different formulas and new (to me) shades lately and wanted to share the ones I’ve actually been reaching for now that we’re solidly into the fall season. They all work well on my olive skin, blend easily, and make me look a little more alive without any extra effort. In this post, all links are affiliate links (thank you for your support!), but all opinions are my own.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dewy Flush in Berry Flush – The one kind of blush that doesn’t usually work for me is a serum blush that’s meant to be like skincare. Serum blushes tend to fade into nothing on me super quickly and slide around my face. So, I was really impressed by the staying power of this given how lightweight and dewy it is. While this blush is intended for a no foundation look (and works great for that), it also works really well over foundation and powder unlike other serum blushes. I really like Berry Flush for my olive skintone, especially in the fall. It just gives that perfect “I’m cold” flush with very little effort, and it makes me look like I’ve had enough water. Be aware this has niacinamide and other skincare ingredients if you’re sensitive to those!

Make Beauty Cream Stroke in Major Mauve (*Gifted) – This has become my go to blush when I want something effortless but still pulled together. I apply this straight from the stick, and it glides on smoothly. I was surprised how easily and quick this blended out. You can use fingers or a brush, and it will take 5 seconds. It sets down enough to last all day without feeling too dry too dewy and just makes my skin look really nice because of how blurring it is. It’s one of the cream blushes I can trust not to move around, and it works well under any powder blush or highlighter I’ve layered on top. Major Mauve is a terracotta leaning mauve (they described it as an “Earthy Mauve”) that works perfectly with my olive undertones.

Rare Beauty Matte Bouncy Blush in Truth – As the name suggests, this matte blush has a squishy bouncy texture but goes on matte. It’s the most blurring and long-wearing of my bouncy blushes, so I reach for it when I know I’ll have a long makeup day. It has a silky finish that’s easier to apply than a traditional powder blush. It’s super buildable and layers well with other blushes or cream products without disturbing what’s underneath. Truth is a soft plum that I love when it starts to get colder in the fall. It’s such an easy shade for me to work with.

Soshe Blurring Pillow Blush in Speakeasy, Rosy Rest, Berry Smitten, and Copper Spice (*2 Gifted, 2 Purchased) – I have been loving all the shades of this blush. It’s so quick and easy to throw on, just like the Rare Beauty blush. Similarly, this formula is really blurring and lasts well all day. It has a natural finish that looks really nice on my dry skin, so that makes it a little more versatile than the Rare Beauty which is more matte. I love how all the shades work well with my olive undertones since I can usually only find a couple in a range that work for me. Berry Smitten (berry plum) and Copper Spice (warm terracotta) have been my favorite shades for fall, but I’d recommend all of them. Speakeasy (dusty mauve) Rosy Rest (dusty pink) are super easy for me to throw on when I want something more neural. I also love that you can buy just the refills and pop them in a magnetic palette, which is what I did with a few of mine.

Soshe blush refills in a magnetic palette

Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Powder Blush Duo in Fizz/Jam – This duo has become one of my favorites lately. The formula feels silky and almost creamy for a powder. It’s super blurring, like most of these other blushes, but a bit harder to blend out than those. I mostly love this duo for the colors. Fizz is a bright watermelon pink that instantly wakes up my complexion, and Jam is a rich berry that adds depth and is especially perfect for fall. On my olive skin, both shades look super flattering, and I love mixing them together so I can make my cheeks more pink or berry depending on my eye look. This is definitely a splurge even when you consider it’s a duo. If I had to choose, I’d go with the Soshe Blurring Pillow Blush because it’s an easier formula to work with overall and has the same blurring quality without any of the dryness from being a powder blush.

Em Cosmetics Brand Review: What’s Actually Worth Buying?

When I realized how many products from this one brand had quietly taken over my makeup drawers, I knew it was finally time to do a full brand review. Here’s my totally honest review of each item, including what I love, what I don’t, and what’s truly worth the hype. This post in not sponsored, but all links are affiliate links (thank you for your support!). As always, all opinions are my own.

Pillow Plush Blush – I’m listing the blushes in order of my most favorite to least favorite, and this has been a surprise hit in my collection. This has a bouncy, cushiony texture that’s a hybrid between a cream and a powder. This has a very natural-looking finish on the skin, with really good staying power. My favorite thing about this formula though is how blurring and seamless it looks. I absolutely love the shade Tickled – it’s a cool toned mauve that’s beautiful on my warm olive skintone. This is my go-to “I made my look way too warm and have to fix it” throw it on top blush. The packaging is also fantastic for travel, since it’s sturdy and has a mirror. The swatch of this one is below with the other powder blushes.

So Soft Blush in Lychee, Pearl Tea, and Venetian Rose Color Drops Serum Blush in Venetian Rose, Forbidden Fruit, and Rose Milk

So Soft Blush – These blushes are everything I look for in a cream blush. The So Soft formula is incredibly soft and creamy (like the name implies), and that makes it so easy and quick to apply. It blends so seamlessly into the skin without disappearing. It’s actually one of the longest wearing cream blushes I own despite being so blendable. I have the shades Lychee (warm melon), Pearl Tea (brownish nude), and Venetian Rose (vintage rose). I get lots of use out of all the shades but Venetian Rose is definitely my favorite and most used because it works the best with my skin.

Radiant Veil Blush in Heaven’s Glow, Venetian Rose, Baroque, Cherub, and Seraph
Pillow Plush Blush in Tickled

Heaven’s Glow Radiant Veil Blush – This is my one of my favorite blushes to use on top of cream blush. It provides a soft, glowy look without being overly pigmented and is such an easy way to brighten up a look. I also use this to set cream and liquid blushes if I know I’ll be on video calls for 12 hours, and the colors I have cover a wide enough range to match with almost any look I’m doing. There’s a bit of a sheen to them, so they’re great if I’m in a hurry because I can use these without needing a highlighter. They definitely aren’t a blurring formula if that’s something you’re looking for, and it can highlight texture if you’re not having an amazing skin day. My favorite shades are Seraph (bright pink) and Venetian Rose (vintage rose) but I got a lot of use out of Baroque in the summer.

Color Drops Serum Blush – I personally prefer the So Soft Blush for the ease of use and wear time but if you’re looking for a super dewy, hydrated look, these are pretty if you’re into a very thin liquid blush. I’m going to give these away to a friend because I find I’d much rather use the Glow Recipe Dew Flush Blushes or the Rare Beauty Dewy Liquid Blushes. If you’re interested in these, Rose Milk is a soft-pinky nude, Forbidden Fruit is a brown-toned berry, and Venetian Rose is a neutral rose. The serum texture does blends quickly and leaves a natural glow but I just find my skin eats these so quickly and they’re a little sticky and hard to blend.

Shapeshift Tubing Mascara – This is one of the few tubing mascaras I’ve tried that genuinely adds noticeable length and volume without adding too much heaviness. Because of that, my super thin straight lashes actually stay curled all day. I love how it’s a bit flexible until it totally dries so I can move my lashes around and get the exact look I want. Like most tubing mascaras, it stays completely smudge-free, even with humidity or workouts, and it rinses right off with warm water. I’m doing a full tubing mascara ranking soon, but this one is currently in the running for the top spot.

Morning Dew Crystal Lip Gloss – I have tried so many lip gloss formulas this year, and my favorite is still this one. It is incredibly moisturizing and makes my lips look great even why they are incredibly dry. I tend not to go for clear glosses since I like one and done products, but I have come to appreciate that I can put this over any lip color to add shine and moisture. I keep this on my desk because it’s what I use when I need more moisture than a balm, and because it’s not sticky at all, it’s comfortable to wear any time of day even as a lip treatment.

Soft Blur Velvet Lip Liners in Kitten and Mink – Out of all my lip liners, I definitely reach for these the most often. The formula blends so easily so you can get a soft, blurred, and diffused look. I find that creates a much more natural look that still defines my lips and helps prevent any feathering of the lipstick I use on top. Even with how soft and lightweight they are, they are very long lasting. I have the shades Kitten, a neutral rose, and Mink, a cool brown, which both work really well with my lip color and the with my favorite lipsticks and glosses.

Velvet Lip Liner in Kitten and Mink, Lip Serum in Arcane, Lip Creme in Hush

Lip Mage Tinted Serum in Arcane – This is a lightweight serum-style lip stain in a rose-berry shade. It leaves a sheer berry tint and layers easily for more intensity. It stains evenly, leaving color behind after the shine fades. It definitely lives us to the lip serum name and keeps my lips feeling moisturized longer than I expect from a stain. I reach for this when I want color that feels more put-together and will last longer than one of my lip balms but still effortless. Let me know if you’d like me to do a lip stain round up since I’m realizing I have quite a few now!

Soft Spoken Velvet Lip Creme in Hush – This is a midtone rose-berry with a whipped, mousse-like consistency. It sets to a soft matte finish, doesn’t exaggerate lip lines, and stays comfortable for much longer than I expected. It’s not completely transfer-proof, but it fades evenly and comfortably over time. It’s a great everyday shade that works with almost anything else I’m wearing given the shades I reach for. I really like pairing this with the Soft Soft Venetion Rose blush.

Divine Water Perfecting Mist – This mist feels more like skincare than a traditional setting spray. It’s hydrating and slightly glowy, but the reason I love it is because the orange blossom fragrance smells so nice. The scent dissipates quickly but it just makes me happy. The mist itself is super fine and evenly distributed, making it nice as both a primer and refresher. It’s not sticky or heavy like some hydrating sprays can be. I’m doing a setting spray battle, and this is definitely coming in almost last for actual longevity, but I still love having it around as a “refresh my makeup after 10 hours” kind of spray.
